CURLFEST 2017: Floral Romper + Fulani Inspired Braids

It’s been some time since my last style post and I wanted to share my look from CURLFEST 2017. CURLFEST is an annual Natural Hair and Beauty event held in Prospect Park Brooklyn. Naturals from all over the world come together to celebrate the Natural Hair Community and support Black Owned Businesses. With the potential to be in photos, I chose to wear a floral romper and sneakers with Fulani braids.

Ruffle High-neck Romper

This Ruffle High-neck Romper was purchased from Target in preparation for my trip to Cuba. I didn’t wear it on vacation but still kept it in my mind to wear for CURLFEST. I’ve been loving the cold shoulder and floral trends so a lot of my purchases this Spring and Summer were these types of pieces. It’s easy to go from day to night to pair with wedges, flats or heeled sandals.

Hair & Jewelry

CURLFEST is a Natural Hair Summer Festival so I wanted to wear a hairstyle that was in-trend and rock my ‘fro. I went on good-old youtube and saw a cute tutorial by Naptural85 with Fulani Inspired beads and braids. Check out the video below that shows how I achieved the look. I used Jane Carter Solution’s Curls to Go Curl Cocktail to do my braids with beads from Amazon. To add some color, I wore a necklace from Reshma Closet new summer collection. This necklace comes with earrings, but I wanted a contrast with the wood earrings and color like my beads.

The energy of the crowd and celebration of blackness made CURLFEST amazing. I seriously can’t wait for next year. Here are some photos of my day. You can also read my recap including tips for attending CURLFEST on Type 4 Naturals blog.
