Jewelry and shirt were provided for the movie premiere.
Excited about covering the Bazodee Movie as press, the question of ‘what to wear?” stayed in my mind. Going with the African-Indian theme of the movie, I wanted to include NYC Urban, Indian and Caribbean looks, so I came up with what I call an “Urban-Beti”. Beti is a Hindi word that means daughter and sometimes a woman in India and Indo-Caribbean cultures.
For the top half of my look, I wanted Indian inspired so I went to Reshma Closet for a cropped sari blouse that tied up in the back. My bottom half was more “modern and comfy”.
To cover my cropped top during the day for work, I wore a fit-to-flare skirt from NY and Company to wear as high or low as I wanted. I was also provided jewelry which included earrings, a statement necklace, and pink, and blue bangles.
The colors made me feel like I was attending an Indian wedding, which was the occasion the main female character, Anita was preparing for.
My look was stylish enough to take pictures for the premiere and comfortable enough for the show/after party. I was able to jump, wave and wine without any malfunctions as Machel Montano, Lyrikal and Skinny Fabulous performed.
