Summer No Buy 2017: July Empties

It’s a little more than halfway through the summer and I’m sharing July empties for my summer no buy. Being a natural hair and beauty blogger is tough. Even though there are three of us on Type 4 Naturals, having different textures means sending products and reviews for three heads! For much of July, I used items from Jane Carter’s Curls to Go line for reviews and our Instagram take over, but before they came I finished three items during wash day.

Taliah Waajid Repair & Restore Hair Strengthening Treatment Masque
Taliah Waajid Repair & Restore Hair Strengthening Treatment Masque

I used it as a deep treatment for wash day but wasn’t too fond of the thickness. If you deal with extremely dry hair, this masque is for you. It contains shea butter, honey, and banana. All three ingredients are used to add moisture back into dry and dull hair.

SheaMoisture® Jamaican Black Castor Oil Reparative Leave-In Conditioner

SheaMoisture® Jamaican Black Castor Oil Reparative Leave-In Conditioner

I absolutely LOVE this leave-in conditioner! It’s formulated with shea butter to soften, Jamaican Black Castor Oil to promote growth, peppermint to stimulate the scalp, and (for me) can be used as a styling product in addition to a leave-in conditioner. Since the Shea Moisture debate a few months ago, I’m still on the fence about purchasing again, but I just might if I can’t find a good enough replacement. If you have suggestions, please let me know.

Tropic Isle Living Jamaican Black Castor Oil

Jamaican Black Castor Oil

This product has been a staple since forever and it will continue to be used in my regular regimen. The Tropic Isle Living Jamaican Black Castor Oil is great for hair growth, hot oil treatments, sealing in moisture and as a natural remedy for sooth muscle aches. If the smell or thickness is a problem, you can mix with lavender, coconut or other essential oils.

Have you used any of these products on your natural hair?
