Soca AFRO-bics with Kiara Ross

If you guys are not familiar with Eventbrite, you really should be. Every once in a while during my down time, I look on this site for free things in NYC as well as purchase tickets for natural hair, beauty and networking events. I saw a free event called Soca AFRO-bics with Kiara Ross of The Kross Movement at Ripley-Grier Studios in Midtown. Being a lover of dance and Soca music, I automatically signed up.

About Soca AFRO-bics with Kiara Ross

Soca AFRO-bics is a high-intensity aerobics, dance, and fitness class created by Kiara Ross.  The class fuses African & Caribbean dance moves with Afrobeats and Soca Music. Along with cardio, Kiara also incorporates boot camp drills to enhance the toning part of the workout.

My Overall Soca AFRO-bics Experience

I absolutely LOVED it! It’s been a while since I’ve been to any fitness or dance class, but I was able to keep up. This class was an hour long and started on time. One thing I strongly advise is to bring your water and a sweat rag. We were given a 5 min break, but were told that it is usually non stop. At the end of class, Kiara did a small routine that is sometimes recorded (this class had no recording) and a group selfie to post on her Social Media pages.
Kiara usually holds soca AFRO-bics at the Ridgewood Y. I am not a YMCA member, but I plan on attending another class when it is available. If you want to get a feel for the class, check out Kiara’s YouTube channel
