I’m finally going to Thailand! As mentioned, one of my high school friends is celebrating her 30th birthday and five of us are joining her to celebrate. We booked a group tour with Gate 1 Travel’s 9 Day Central Thailand with River Kwai package. The package includes:
- 7 nights accommodations
- 4 nights Bangkok
- 2 nights Kanchanaburi
- 1 night Ayutthaya
- Hotel taxes, fees & service charges
- Hotel porterage
- All transfers
- 10 meals: 7 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 2 dinners
- Sightseeing per itinerary in modern air-conditioned motor coach
- Services of English-speaking tour manager throughout
- Entrance fees per itinerary
- Comfortable wireless earphones for enhanced touring
We all travel often, but it will be our first time in Southeast Asia. We’re flying out this week and extremely excited about the trip, (but not the long flight). Here’s a list of 5 things I can’t wait to do in Thailand.

Explore Bangkok and Ayutthaya
Bangkok is the capital and most populous city in Thailand. We’ll be doing a city tour that includes a visit to Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha), and hopefully catching glimpses in government buildings and the King’s Palace. (The country is mourning the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, so I’m not sure how much of a change is taking place). Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site was considered one of the largest and most beautiful cities in the world during the 14th to the 18th centuries. Along with viewing the ruins of temples, palaces, and monasteries, we’ll be going to Wat Chaiwatthanaram.

Visit the Floating Market
I LOVED the floating market in Curacao and was excited to read about the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Thailand. Here, you can purchase fruits, vegetables, dry goods, and freshly cooked food.
Island Hop in Phuket
Even though we’re going on the tour with Gate 1 Travel, we REALLY wanted to visit Phuket. For our first weekend, we’re staying At Phuket Inn in Patong and going on a Phi Phi Islands Tour with Phuket All Tours. Some islands we’ll visit are:
- Phi Phi Ley
- Phi Phi Don
- Koh Khai Nok
I’m such a beach bum, so I’ll be bringing my essentials and taking tons of pics. I really would like to do snorkeling if it’s available.
Zip Lining
This was planned totally last minute, but our last adventure in Thailand before heading home will be zip lining. It’s something I wanted to do it before turning 30, but I’m glad to be doing it this time around.
Have a Fun Time With the Girls
One of the reasons I decided to go on this trip is because I know it’ll be a great as a group trip. I really enjoy solo travel, but I think this experience would be better with friends. We’re already planning a trip to Morocco next year. Who knows? A girlfriend’s trip may be a yearly thing for us. Make sure to follow me on Instagram as I share pictures and videos of this trip.

Have you been to Thailand before?
Thailand is number one on my list next year !! Can’t wait to see pictures and hear about it. Have a blast and safe travels !!
