Earlier this year, I made the decision to travel more and focus on a living a healthier lifestyle. Even though I go on trips, I still make it my business to do some kind of physical activity. Here are five simple ways to stay fit while on vacation.
Walk
I love to walk around and honestly use this option the most wherever I go. Walking can be simple, but very effective for your health. According to Heart.org, walking briskly can lower your risk of high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes as much as running. Depending on what I’m doing for the day, I can do from 20-40 thousand steps a day on vacation. Do a paid or free walking tour or venture out on your own.
Use the Gym
When booking accommodations, search for lodging with a gym included or close by. On my trip to DC in January, I dedicated at least 30 minutes for gym time. The time goes quick and your body will thank you in the long run.

Swim
I LOVE the pool. Everyone isn’t a swimmer, but if you know how to swim, use the pool. It’s a great exercise for the mornings or relaxing after a long day of walking around. Being that it was steps away from my room, I definitely took advantage of pool time to cool off from the hot sun in Curaçao.
Biking
This is another option I haven’t used, but my friends suggested I do biking on a future vacation. There are city or park bike rentals in most major towns or you can sign up for a traditional bike tour. Learning about the city, have fun bike riding AND burn calories? Why not?

Run
I’m not much of a runner (I need more discipline), but it is a great option for staying fit on vacation. You can use the treadmill from the gym, follow running paths on a resort, research running groups in the area or create your own route. Just be mindful of the time and your surroundings when choosing an “off the beaten path” route.
What are some other ways to stay fit while on vacation?
Those are nice tips. Those way are the best to keep our healthy since we do Vacation
Walking, swimming and biking are the 3 ways I would personally enjoy!
Great post! I always try to check to see if the hotel I will be staying has a gym. It is also pretty nice to take a run or walk on the beach if you’ll be near one.
I have actually lost weight on vacation a couple of times. Always when the trip involved lots of walking and site seeing.
Same here. I didn’t even notice until I got back.
Good tips. I always try to hit the gym when I vacation and I also walk like crazy to get some fitness in also
These are amazing tips. I have to admit I am a bit lazy on vacations. But since I’m trying to be healthier I’m going to have to make the adjustment.
Great tips, I do a lot of walking while on vacation. That is the perfect fitness balance to all the amazing food I also eat.
yes, I love the local food. Big portions and much cheaper than traditional restaurants. Walking is a must.
Great tips. I forget to keep my work out game up at home muchless son a vacation.
This tips are great especially when traveling alone. When it’s my husband & I, we like to try tennis or even basketball if the resort has courts.
I love hitting the pool. I wish I could do it more frequently. I also like trying new things like paddle boarding and hiding.
I would LOVE to do paddle boarding. Was looking to do a hike for my last trip, but I chickened out.
A girl after my own heart!! I totally agree with you travel but make certain you still get your exercise in while you travel. Especially if you want to eat your way through your trip.
YES! lol eating the good food is a must.
My form of exercise is usually chasing my 3 kids around, that’s a workout in itself lol. I also love walking though and would like to do bike riding.
lol That definitely happens when I’m wit my nieces and nephews. Never a dull moment. They could be in the pool all day tool.
Great tips, as much as I travel I really got to step my workout game up on vacation instead of lounging around.
Thanks! I set aside a few hours to relax, but I get bored easily.
