If you’re in need of a multipurpose product for your whole body, coconut oil just might be the answer. While some have an allergy or sensitivity, there are many benefits for using coconut oil for your hair and body. If you’re wondering how to use coconut oil for your hair and body, here are some ways below.
Oil Pulling
Most people practice oil pulling to whiten teeth, treat toothaches, or combat gingivitis, plaque, and microorganisms that cause bad breath. To start, place a tablespoon of coconut oil and swish it around your teeth and gums for about 20 minutes. An important note is to not swallow and spit the contents in the trash to prevent your sink from clogging up.
For Your Skin
Makeup Remover
Do you have mascara or lipstick that is extra difficult to take off? Coconut oil is a great makeup remover! As much as I love matte lipsticks, they take FOREVER to take off with makeup wipes alone. Using coconut oil as a makeup remover prevents irritation and moisturizes the areas around the eyes and mouth. Just dip a cotton pad in the oil, rub it on your skin and the makeup comes off easily. You can follow up with your nighttime treatment afterward.
Hydrating Dry Skin
Coconut oil works wonders with smoothing dry, cracked skin. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that work well for skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
For Your Hair
Prepoo
During the transitioning phase and even as a new natural, a prepoo was always in my regimen. Now, I barely have the time to even wash on a weekly basis. Prepooing is useful for melting tangled hair from a wash and go or hair that hasn’t been treated in a long time due to protective styling.
Sealing in Moisture
Coconut oil is NOT a moisturizer but works well to seal in the moisture when applying the L.O.C. Method on natural hair. It also contains properties that penetrate the hair shaft.
Ive heard of pulling but the thought of it makes my stomach hurt. Make up remover sounds like a winner. My favorite lipstick is a matte red and it stains all the time.
Great ideas! I love coconut oil and use it for my hair, as a body moisturizer, as a makeup remover, and also I add a teaspoon to my smoothies.
I currently use coconut oil for oil pulling, to seal my hair and to moisturize my cuticles. You can use it for ANYTHING!
I certainly use it to remove those stubborn lipsticks. However in regards to my type 4 hair ..coconut oil goes back and forth with my hair. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.
