Before experiencing the hustle and bustle of the Holiday season, my cousin and I had the pleasure of staying at the Portland Harbor Hotel in Portland, Maine. As shared in a previous post, we’ve been doing a lot more domestic travel this year due to the pandemic, so when the opportunity to stay at the Portland Harbor Hotel was given, I happily asked my cousin to join me.
The Portland Harbor Hotel was conveniently located and offered everything we needed for our two-day trip to Maine. If you are planning a trip to Portland, Maine, here are five reasons to stay at the Portland Harbor Hotel.
About the Portland Harbor Hotel
The Portland Harbor Hotel is a stylish boutique property and the only Four Diamond hotel in the heart of the Old Port District in downtown Portland, Maine. The hotel’s plush guest rooms have cozy, coastal themes and feature local artwork from notable Maine artists throughout the property.
Portland Harbor Hotel Location
The nearest airport, Portland International Jetport, is only 15 minutes away. The hotel is within walking distance of many restaurants, bars, art galleries, local boutique shops, and the working Portland waterfront. On our full days of exploring the Old Port area, we didn’t have to worry about taking rideshare services or public transportation because everything was in the area.
The Portland Harbor Hotel Accommodations
The Portland Harbor Hotel has 101 guest rooms, including 16 luxury suites. When we stepped into our room, we knew we would have the ultimate hotel experience of comfort, which is exactly what we were looking for. We stayed in a Deluxe Room with a city view and 2 queen-sized beds.
Everything we needed was in the room, including high-speed WiFI for my cousin to work remotely, a refrigerator, a flat-screen TV, a desk, and seating areas. The spacious bathrooms included a granite-top vanity, granite and glass-enclosed showers, a large soaking tub for extra relaxation, and a makeup mirror for getting ready. I loved the added luxury toiletries and makeup wipes, too.
In-House Dining at Harbor Bistro
The hotel restaurant, Harbor Bistro, offers a varied menu of local seafood and seasonal dishes. On our first night in Portland, we had dinner at Harbor Bistro. The Tuna Poke appetizer and Lobster roll were delicious, and the service was great. After dinner, we walked to the courtyard to enjoy the night by the fire pit.
Breakfast at Harbor Bistro was just as good as dinner. Out of the full spreads of food we had on both days, there was nothing that we didn’t love. The maple syrup and fresh blueberries on the pancakes and french toast were memorable. We also appreciated that it kept us full until the evening.
The Service & Amenities
As someone who works professionally in customer service, I appreciate receiving great service from others. The front desk staff at the Portland Harbor Hotel were very helpful in sharing things to do in the area and were very responsive when we called for assistance during our stay.
The Portland Harbor Hotel also has a fitness center, valet parking, pet-friendly (with a fee), outdoor dining, and individual pantries with complimentary Starbucks coffee on each floor.
Meeting & Banquet Facilities
In addition to luxurious rooms, there are event rooms, including the outdoor patio, Envoy Room, Ambassador Room, and Diplomat Room. The largest room can accommodate up to 120 people at a reception-style event, so it is perfect for private events and small gatherings like corporate meetings and weddings.
I hope this post has inspired you to stay at the Portland Harbor Hotel on your next trip to Portland, Maine. From now until December 24, 2021, the stay will use the Portland Shopping State of Mind Package, which includes discounted stays and a 10% discount at local retailers that offer quality artisan gifts and handmade wares from Maine.
