You may recall seeing my visit to San Juan, Puerto Rico with my youngest sister on Instagram for an extended weekend back in 2016. At the time time the last time we went to the Caribbean together was in 2004, so a sister’s trip was overdue. She also needed a break from mom/wife life.

We purchased a flight deal for $100 round-trip each, so splurging on a hotel wasn’t a big deal. Luckily, I was able to find a great deal on Travelzoo for $65 per night at the Verdanza Hotel in Isla Verde.

The price included free parking, welcome drinks, 15% off meals, and free Wi-Fi. The hotel is just steps away from one of the best urban beaches in Puerto Rico, Isla Verde Beach, as well as Ocean Park Beach.

Verdanza Hotel San Juan: Location 5/5

The Verdanza Hotel is a 3-star hotel situated in the heart of Isla Verde, a prime location in Puerto Rico. It is just a 1-minute drive from the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, making it one of the closest hotels to the airport.

This convenient location is perfect for business travelers and tourists alike, with easy access to both the city and beach.

If you would like to do activities, Old San Juan is a must-visit, offering great food and a rich history and culture. The hotel also provides a tour and travel desk for those interested in booking excursions or renting a car.

Lobby and Check-In Experience: 5/5

Since our flight landed 2 AM, we had to book an additional night for our rooms and notify the front deaks on early arrival. After parking in the lot, we were greeted by their friendly staff, who shared resort information about the available amenities, dining options, Wi-Fi, and the refundable security deposit for incidental charges. We also received a slip to put in the car for parking validation.

Verdanza Hotel Room 3/5

We stayed in a Superior King Room that had a refrigerator, coffee maker, daily drinking water, and coffee/tea with a partial city view. The room was equipped with modern amenities, including flat-screen TVs and complimentary wireless internet access.

When leaving the room, we took all our valuables, but a safe was available if needed. Private bathrooms are available in all guest rooms, ensuring a comfortable stay. Our bathroom had a full tub and shower but was very narrow. For 1-2 people, it works, but if you have kids, it would be too small.

When walking around the hotel to visit the pool, I had fun taking pictures in the garden, which included a citronella bush, a natural mosquito repellent.

As mentioned, our rate included free parking and 15% off restaurant dining. We took advantage of dinner at eighty20 Bistro and had Sunday brunch at the Burger Bar, a tapas bar offering a variety of dishes.

The hotel also features a deli café and a wine and tapas bar, providing diverse dining options for guests.

Other amenities at the Verdanza Hotel include:

• Fitness Center: A fully equipped fitness center is available for guests who want to stay active during their stay.
• Expansive Pool Area: The outdoor pool area is perfect for relaxation, with a hot tub available for a soothing soak. The hotel also has a spray park, making it a great choice for a family-friendly hotel.
• PawsPark for Pets: The hotel is pet-friendly and even offers an off-leash dog park, a great addition for guests traveling with pets.
• Valet and Self Parking: Both self-parking and valet parking options are available onsite, making it easy for guests to park their vehicles.

After driving around through the day, we spent our evenings poolside or in the Jacuzzi. We loved that the hotel had a spray park for children and I told my sister to keep the hotel in mind when planning a family vacation. The kids would love it.

Our overall stay was pleasant and we were well-rested when returning home. The Verdanza Hotel is conveniently located by the highway, minutes from San Juan international airport and there were a lot of options for food, gas, restaurants, a pharmacy, and a grocery store nearby.

If you’re looking for a pet and family-friendly hotel or an excellent option for a quick getaway, I definitely recommend staying here.
