St. Kitts Launches Sugar Mas 2025 in New York City During Caribbean Week
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS – June 6, 2025
St. Kitts took center stage in New York City on June 4th, 2025, with the vibrant international media launch of its most iconic cultural event: the St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival, affectionately known as Sugar Mas.
Held at Jasmine’s Caribbean Cuisine as part of the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) Caribbean Week, the event marked a significant milestone in the island’s efforts to amplify its cultural footprint on the global stage.

A dynamic collaboration between the St. Kitts Tourism Authority and the St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival Committee, the evening was an overwhelming success. It drew top-tier travel writers, tour operators, and social media influencers, many of whom experienced the spirit of Sugar Mas for the first time.
Guests were immersed in the sights, sounds, and flavors of St. Kitts through:
- Live masquerader performances in traditional carnival attire
- Pulsating Caribbean music that brought the room to life
- Delectable island cuisine and handcrafted signature cocktails
- A visually rich cultural showcase, highlighting the island’s storied heritage

One of the evening’s highlights was the exclusive unveiling of the Sugar Mas 2025 Calendar of Events, giving attendees a preview of the exciting festivities scheduled for the upcoming carnival season.
Following a strong surge in international arrivals last year, the 2025 media launch signals a strategic push to maintain that momentum by positioning Sugar Mas as a must-experience celebration for global travelers.
“Sugar Mas is the heartbeat of our culture,” said Hon. Marsha T. Henderson, Minister of Tourism. “It unites our music, arts, cuisine, and community in a uniquely Kittitian way. We’re thrilled to welcome the world to St. Kitts this season and share the magic that makes our Carnival unlike any other.”
Hon. Samal Duggins, Minister of Culture, added: “Bringing Sugar Mas to New York speaks volumes about its growing international appeal. It’s not just a festival—it’s a movement that showcases the vibrancy and warmth of our people. This is just the beginning of a carnival season that will be remembered for years to come.”
As Sugar Mas 2025 approaches, excitement is already building for what promises to be an unforgettable season filled with culture, celebration, and Caribbean joy. Whether you’re a returning visitor or planning your first trip, there’s never been a better time to experience the electric energy of St. Kitts’ National Carnival.
