As you guys know I’ve had A LOT more time to do with my hair being at home. This month, I started using the Mielle Organics Pomegranate and Honey Collection. I first came across Mielle Organics in 2014 after receiving the Mint Almond Oil in an event swag bag.
Initially, I wasn’t a fan and ended up giving the products away. However, after reading about the benefits of the Pomegranate & Honey Collection for Type 4 Natural hair, I decided to give them another try.

Flat Twist Out with Mielle Organics Pomegranate and Honey Collection

Moisturizing and Detangling Shampoo,
The Moisturizing and Detangling Shampoo is infused with honey and babassu oil, which work together to lift dirt and oil from your hair while adding moisture. I wet my hair and separated it into four sections before applying the shampoo. I used the tips of my fingers to cleanse my scalp and finger-detangled before rinsing it out. This shampoo is perfect for those with thick, curly hair types seeking easy detangling and intense hydration.
Moisturizing and Detangling Conditioner
The Moisturizing and Detangling Conditioner smooths, moisturizes, and strengthens the hair, helping to prevent breakage and split ends. With my hair still in four sections, I applied the conditioner and used my fingers to detangle it. For added smoothness, I occasionally used a detangling brush.
This conditioner is enriched with pomegranate extract and citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) to enhance curl elasticity and make curls more manageable. After detangling, I twisted each section before rinsing out the conditioner.
Leave-In Conditioner
The Pomegranate & Honey Leave-In Conditioner is a curl primer and detangler. It contains ingredients like pomegranate seed oil and sweet almond oil (prunus amygdalus dulcis) that moisturize, prevent frizz, and add shine to thick, curly Type 4 hair.
After washing and conditioning, I applied the leave-in conditioner from root to tip. This product is perfect for those seeking a leave-in conditioner that provides moisture and prepares hair for styling.
Twisting Soufflé
The Twisting Soufflé enhances curls with a semi-deep definition and intense moisture. After applying the leave-in conditioner, I followed up with the Twisting Soufflé to create a flat twist-out style. I applied flat twists around the circumference of my head and sectioned off the crown to do six regular twists. This product is ideal for defining curls while maintaining natural styles that require intense hydration.
Coil Sculpting Custard vs Curl Smoothie Wash and Go
Recently, I compared the Coil Sculpting Custard and the Curl Smoothie side-by-side. The Coil Sculpting Custard has a lighter consistency and provides deep definition, while the Curl Smoothie offers a soft definition with medium hold. After using the leave-in conditioner, I applied the Coil Sculpting Custard on one side of my head and the Curl Smoothie on the other.
The Coil Sculpting Custard delivered moisturized, shiny curls with a strong hold, while the Curl Smoothie left a white cast that eventually faded. For those with thick curly hair, I recommend using the Curl Smoothie for braided or twisted protective styles and the Coil Sculpting Custard for defined wash-and-go styles.
Curl Refreshing Spray
The Curl Refreshing Spray is a water-based spray that rehydrates old styles and reduces frizz. After taking out my flat twists, I used the spray to add shine and give a light hold. Although effective, I find similar results when I mix my honey leave-in conditioner with water in a spray bottle.
The Mielle Pomegranate & Honey Collection is a great choice for those with thick and curly hair who want quality natural hair care products to maintain moisture and manageability. While some products, like the Curl Refreshing Spray, may not be necessary for everyone, the overall collection delivers on its promises.
